higher education mobility in Europe

These Santander Open Academy recognize the academic excellence of Erasmus+ participants and promote equal opportunity and inclusion in education. With grants of up to 1,000 euros to study at universities across Europe, they also provide selected students with a learning and job plan before, during and after their time abroad to help them grow professionally.

Santander for Erasmus runs in Germany, Poland, Portugal and Spain. It began in Spain in 2018 and launched in Germany, Poland and Portugal last year to promote living abroad and employability for university students. By the end of the next academic year, over 21,500 university students will have benefited from these scholarships to study abroad, thanks to 10.5 million euros invested so far by Banco Santander.

The programme aims to:

  • increase youth employment;
  • promote training in new skills;
  • integrate people in the European Union;
  • support innovation and cooperation between countries;
  • reduce early school leaving; and
  • increase international mobility.

For 2024/2025, undergraduate and master’s degree students in Germany, Poland, Portugal and Spain will be able to apply for over 3,000 grants of up to 1,000 euros each. Students can choose from over 100 universities in 27 countries to live abroad while developing the skills that companies are demanding.
