Role Summary
We are seeking a Sales Manager with strong FMCG expertise to spearhead our sales and business development operations across Nigeria. The ideal candidate will drive growth strategies, manage distributors and retail channels, lead a high-performing sales team, and achieve ambitious revenue goals for our beverage portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Design and execute robust sales strategies to expand market share in Lagos, Kano, and nationwide.
- Identify, recruit, and onboard new distributors, wholesalers, and retail partners.
- Enhance product visibility, availability, and activation in traditional trade (open markets, kiosks, shops) and modern trade (supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies).
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and lead sales representatives, merchandisers, and channel managers.
- Set and monitor sales targets (monthly/quarterly) to ensure consistent delivery.
- Motivate and mentor team members for sustained performance and growth.
Distributor & Channel Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key distributors.
- Negotiate favorable terms, rebates, and credit policies.
- Monitor stock levels, secondary sales, and ensure effective credit control.
Market Execution
- Drive product activations, listings, and point-of-sale promotions.
- Oversee branding, merchandising visibility, and route-to-market execution.
- Collect and analyze market intelligence on pricing, competition, and consumer trends.
Reporting & Strategy
- Track and report weekly/monthly performance against set targets.
- Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to align promotions with sales objectives.
Requirements
- 2–5 years’ proven experience in FMCG sales management (beverages preferred).
- Strong track record of exceeding sales and business development targets.
- Solid network of distributors, wholesalers, and key accounts in Nigeria.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Deep knowledge of route-to-market strategies (van sales, supermarkets, open markets, pharmacies).
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Nigeria.
